Competition format and rules
General rules:
- With the exception of the amateur qualification, all event segments are co-ed (open to men and women), but performances are judged separately.
- There is no pre-determined order. Riders perform their two judged runs within the allotted time whenever they choose.
- In the event of a tie, riders will go on to the next round or receive their share of the purse.
- The competition requires the mastery of two different disciplines: the Big Air and the rail jam featuring a rail with various surface textures revealed only on the first day of competition.
Amateur qualifications:
Men only
Jam format:
The 80 participants will be divided in two groups of 40. Each group will have 120 minutes for all their riders to perform two judged runs.
Rules:
- Riders must inform the starter which of their runs will be judged and which trick they will perform on the jump.
- If the trick called is not performed successfully, no points will be awarded for the jump.
- The jump and rail each account for 50 percent of the final score.
- If riders successfully complete the trick called on their first jump, they cannot repeat the same trick on their second judged run.
- Tricks on the rail can be the same for both judged runs.
Riders who rank in the top three during qualifications will move on to the RIDE Shakedown semi-finals on Saturday with the invited pros.
